Board
Reading cyberspace articles there are so much written that David used the Tempts to launch his solo career.
Now I beg the differ, I think David would have made it with out the Tempts in other words Tempts need David instead the other way around.

Well David had recorded before the Tempt's. But he didn't enjoy the over whelming popularity until the Tempt's,and he will always be remembered as the "lead" singer of the Temptations. I think being with the group gave him the opportunity to show case his talent. On the group side Ruffin's vocals made them one of the hottest groups of that era. I think they needed each other.

Funny that you made this particular statement. David and I had discussions about this very subject. He certanly had the talent to make it. David would say if it wasn't for the Temptations..... Your statement is true, but the politics in that industry were unbelievable. And there were many people with talent that went nowhere.

HELLO THIS IS ABE DOES ANYBODY HAVE ANY THOUGHTS ON HOW IT MIGHT HAVE WORKED OUT IF DAVID RECORDED FOR GAMBLE/HUFF IN THE MID 70'S?i THINK DAVID SHOULD HAVE GOTTEN MORE THAN ONE LEAD ON THE REUNION ALBUM.

I am not sure if I would have liked him with Gamble and Huff. Motown was doing a good job with him, until they stopped liking him. Had they paid David at least a reasonable sum of his money and promoted him, he probably would have done very well. I guess you can't expect a man to give his all when you are cheating him out of his money that he rightfully earned.

Hey Abe. I don;t think Gamble/Huff would have done any better by David then Motown. Writers and producers there did material with David's voice in mind. You might say Tailor made to Fit! I agree with Beesnvme had Motown not decided to promote David's career{without letting David know} I feel we would have seen a lot more hits from David. I also wish David was given more leads on the reunion album.

Hello This is abe ,iyes i feel that David's solo records should have been promoted more agressively.Did you know that there was a group called the Choice Four out of Dc that cut "walk Away From Love"but David did the better version and needless to say made it a classic.Did anyone remember him him on Bandstand singing"Walk Away From Love" back in '75?

if david were alive i think he might be happy with the british compilation i mentioned because he would want fans to have acess to songs that never made it on Cd.he said in an interview that if a fan wouild yell for a particular song of his to be sung he'd do it.Does anyone have any thoughts on the Motown Legends CD that hs some of his solo work.
