I don't think David's in the R&R Hall of Fame, except with the group, although he should be. You can go anywhere in America and hear his voice on any number of songs. Does anyone know what the test for admission is? Is it a certain number of hits under your own name?

I belive the requirments are at least to number 1's, and i forget how many platnium records (Since motown doesn't open their books to GET platnium HOF goes by how many records Motown artist sell), And then a panel of judges have to agree on the artist, Then there is something else ... I can check up on it ... But it is really a long process .... ;D

davidfan- You don't necessarily have to have platinum records in order to get into the Hall of Fame. Hell, The Dells got in & I think, most of their records are gold. It all amounts to longevity & the body of work created for 25 yrs +, consistently. Not all acts that are in the HOF have gone to number one. To be frank, I think the HOF is extremely political & I would think it would be better if we could get David into the R&B Foundation. As you pointed out, how did Motown acts get into the Hall of Fame if the company didn't open their books? It's also based on popularity & again, politics. Gee, I'm starting to feel like the bearer of bad news here.

BG is in the R&R Hall of Fame, why shouldn't the artist that put him there be a member? David as well as Jimmy Ruffin should be there IMHO...

Hello My Friend .I love Ruffin as a entertainer and friend. However I don't thik he should have been inducted as a solo artist. Ruffin made history as a member of The Temptations. I think Ruffin's voice was one of a kind, and he does deserve some type of recogniton for that. But if every good vocalist was inducted in The Hall Of Fame,it would loose its exclusiveness. I would love to see Ruffin with a star on the walk of fame or/and even a stamp. Speaking of the Rock n Roll all Of Fame. Prince was just inducted. I think his induction was long over due.

I'm not an BG fan.but this man deserves to be in the Hall Of Fame. BG did a lot of shady things I agree, but who knows where any of these artist would have been without him? True the artist did help put BG in the Hall of Fame. But BG also helped put these artist there. I don't like of dislike BG,but I do have a great respect for him for his accomplishments. Motown is legendary. Love or Hate him Motown is BG.

True he treated most of his artist unfairly, but that doesn't negate his contribution. Actually if the whole truth was told BG didn't do anything that the other less profitable labels did. His is just more publicized, because of his great stable of stars.

Hi Molly: First, thanks for the post. Second, thanks for the kiss on the cheek. Third, I agree with much of what you said, and if David's years after the Tempts were not good enough from an objective standard, then he should not be there. But I will take to the grave my knowledge and belief that David Ruffin was better than alot of others who are in it.
