Did David always recorded under the name David Ruffin or another last name prior to bringing the soul in temptations? I read in cyberspace David use the name David Bush is this true? And if it is true can anyone tell me the reason why he changed his last name? Did the Gordy suggested David changed his last name or was it David idea??

I will also say that some people say it was not David who sang under that name, but Eddie Bush himself... David never told me if it was him or not...He told me about Eddie Bush though...

QNDF, again, referring to that dreaded book, it mentioned about the brief name change. This is before came to Motown. It may have been Eddie Bush's idea to change David's name. Ironically, David also decided to change his first name, too. Notice that he doesn't go by his biological name Davis. I guess he thought the name was too 'country' sounding.

Ruffin recorded under the name of Little David Bush. I'm sure it was Eddiie Bush's bright idea to change Ruffin's last name to his. Ruffin claimed that it was his voice on that record. QNew,and davidfan. It's no secret that Ruffin's home life was less then desirable. He left home at the age of 14.

Bear with me Palace. My head is a little bad. celebratiing. Mr.Smokey Robinson himself is in Detroit for a few days. I ran inot him. IBeesnvme I sohed him your board. His exact words "Awesome". Don't be suprised if he doesn't post here sometimes. He was very impressed. Eddie Bush was a man Ruff met while he was on the road touring with gospel groups. He bought Ruff to Detroit. Eddie had Ruff record as Little Eddie Bush. That's Ruff's voice on that recording. Ruff considered Detroit his home. He did not have a lot of good memories of Mississippi.

I am like DF, I have no problem David leaving his home town we love him and his music. David did not have choice of choosing his parents I am not here to judge his childhood life. I am here to honor his accomplishments. As far as I am concerned, David could've born to a green eyed fool the man was awesome performer!!
Even though he had a horrible childhood he did not change his last name, he respected his father enough to keep the Ruffin name. Yea Mr. David E. Ruffin you are number one in my book.

Apart from that I don't know ;D DF, Anna Records was not affliated with Motown at the time. Anna records was created in '58. Motown was created in '59. The only connection the two labels had was that they were (co)owned by Gordy siblings.
