Hello all! Out of curiousity, has anyone heard of DR's recording off of this compliation? It featured many known & obsured Motown artists, including Jimmy Ruffin. I will search for the link again where you can listen to some of David's & Jimmy's recordings. One of the songs by David is from the Motor City recording compliation.

Here is the link. the.soulclub.org/ Hopefully, everyone has Windows Media or Real Player. I'm not sure if these files will work if you have some other software that plays music/sound files. It works when I'm in aol though. Try it & see what happens.

Thank you ladies. I just want to get back to the business at hand......I tried to listen to it from my computer but it didn't work. You would have to save the file on your hard drive, which I'm sure you don't want to do. When I'm in aol, though, I have no problem bringing these files up. Hmmmmm.....I also notice a couple of David songs that I've never seen nor heard of before. Shelter of Love & the other which totally escapes me right now. If I could find a way to download these so you guys could listen to it, I'd do it.

Do you have a place to store the files on the internet?? They are easy to download. Also, do you have realplayer or realone?? If not they can be converted to another file type. You just need to decide which one you prefer.
Let me know, and I'll do one for you.

Kas, how are you? Thanks for the assistance. It's appreciated. I only have an image hosting site for my pics, so I will have to look for another place to store any music files. I know music files take up a huge amount of bites when you store them, so I will have to look for a place that has a good amount of megs for me to store them in. Do you think 50meg is a good place to store them? I had an account with them once but of course, it's probably expired by now. If music is allowed to be stored there, I'd probably open an account & download it there. What do you think?
At home, I have real player, windows media & winamp to play music files. Now I thought Real One & Real Player is the same thing. My bad. Is Real One any good?

Realplayer and RealOne are different versions of the same thing. RealOne is use on the more current operating systems. Realplayer is old technology. But nevertheless, either should do. You don't have to open a new account just yet. Let's try some thngs first. First, click on this file and see if plays for you. I just picked one!! the.soulclub.org/sounds/David_Ruffin_-_Better_Beware.rm

Nope. It doesn't work. When I "clicked" on it, it asked me to open, save, etc. When I clicked on "Open" it started downloading the file. I stopped it before it loaded entirely.

Ok, when you do a "regular click," if you have a realplayer product on your computer the player should come up and the file should start downloading so the player can play.
If you "right click" on the file, a small menu will pop up with the "open", "save target as", etc, etc.
It sounds like, if you did a "regular click" that you don't have realplayer on your computer.
Not a problem. The next question is do you have any player at all on the computer you are using??
If so the file can be converted to accomodate that player. If not then of course, you wouldn't be able to play the file anyway, no matter what the file type.
I understand you were saying that you can play the files at home, but not on the computer you were currently using, correct??

Common, I have a Motor City compilation, but I don't have that particular song on it. David only has one song on this one...Hurt The One You Love. JL has two...Wake Me When It's Over and On The Rebound. This is the one where GC is singing Just My Imagination...he does a nice job too.

CP, Hurt The One You Love is the only song that David recorded for that label. The Shelter Of Love song, I've never heard before. I'll take a listen & report back.

Oh my!! I just listened to Shelter Of Love. What a pretty song! I wish you guys could hear it. It sounds very early 70ish. I wondering if this song came from the unreleased DR LP of '71? I've seen a couple of singles that are from this particular LP, floating around, 3 have been put on 3 different Ruffin compliations. I'll have to find out where this particular song is from.
