I just finished her book recently and here's what I have to say:
First of all, its no wonder that she lived the life she did. The first chapter talks about her childhood life and how bad everyone else was around her. She was obviously used to physical, mental, sexual etc. etc. abuse. And it sounds like her mother was treated the same way. So IMO, the apple don't fall far from the tree.
How she met David. Apparently David noticed her first. At the beach at a performance with Chuck Jackson, The Temptations and a few others. She keeps going back and forth between stories so its kinda hard to remember or keep up with what she was saying.
I remember thinking "what?"....And I hope the rest of the book gets a little better.
Chapter 3, 4, and 5
Are pretty much the same things. But to make a long story shorter, I have never in my short life heard of someone carry a grudge with someone for 40 years and also decades after the other person died. i.e Genna and Tammi.
I am reminded of that movie "My Best Friends Wedding" except change the characters.
David is running, chasing Tammi, Genna is running, chasing David. But the question is, Who is chasing Genna?
Put yourself in this scenario:
You are a few months pregnant. Your "man" packs his stuff leaving you with nothing for another woman. He goes and lives with this woman. On the other hand he knows he has you right where he wants you. Regardless of him living with another woman, you continue to stalk him meaning you do whatever it is you have to do to find out who, what, when, where & how he is with. You still are hoping and praying that he'll come back to you. Meanwhile, you are calling the other woman names obviously jealous with envy of her. My only question is Who is the DUMMY?
I can't believe the nerve of all the nasty names that were mentioned about Tammi. I am not at all going to defend Tammi, but geezus christ. Enough is Enough!
As far as David's "behavior", there are many of men that act like that, as well as women, but it just shows his human nature. In other words, everyone here has either been in a similar situation, or has known someone else in a similar situation, and can see that if your going to be at his beck and call and he KNOWS no matter WHAT he does, you'll always be there to pick him up, he's gonna treat you like a dog.
Again, who's the Dummy
Ok, Chapter's 6, 7 and 8 maybe even 9...
((Grams)) where is my throw up smiley when I need it. "Die Bitch Die" was horrible. However, for some strange reason I dont feel sorry for her.
Anyway, it goes on and on about a few beatings, some more jealousness with Tammi even though by this time she's already dead.
Oh and she states that one time after a beating, Paul Williams let her in where he was staying (hotel I think) but there was only one bed and he was drunk passed out on the bed, she was "brutally" beaten, and Rose and Melvin walked in and caught them sharing a bed. Didnt say anything about it ever.
And, Dennis helped her buy shoes for Jr and one point. If David ever found out he'd beat her for that, so he never found out.
My biggest thing is if you're gonna let him do it once, your gonna let him do it again. From experience IMO subconsiously both men and women, if your gonna get away with something once, your gonna try and see how far you can possibly take it.
Anyway, Also IMO the reason Tammi was in the book and/or miniseries is because Tammi was Tammi,...who is Genna? A go-go dancer from Baltimore? Thats common sense, I mean hell if that were my book/movie, I'd do the same thing.
Oh I forgot the part about where a few months after she was "forced" to leave him, He married Tonya. After a while both Tonya and Genna were living with David.
He never married her. (Genna) So why does she call herself Genna Sapia-Ruffin? And then earlier this morning I was told there are a "few" women out there who still go by Mrs. David Ruffin, which is sick.
Oh and she says too in her book that "David loved her enough to not marry her" bonk* bonk* bonk*
And what made him mad is that she wouldnt stick up for herself when he beat her. The more he beat her the more he got mad at her because she took it. Where is my roll eye smiley when I need it.
The woman in my opinion still has issues. The only point I felt any kind of emotion was when she talked about David's funeral. ("sideshow") <~~ her words, not mine.
The only question that I'm still confused about is WHo is Kelly? The woman she talked about in the last chapter?[/quote
Great post Miss Tara
what I get from it she allowed him to do it so he did it.
all I can say is..it just makes no sense at all.
