Has anyone heard DER record under the Little David Bush moniker? Where did DER get this name from?

Go over to The Soul Club and check out Little David. He got the name from his 'adopted' father...Eddie Bush.

Ms Bees! Oh my goodness! Our Ruffin could BLOW!!!! Thank you Ms. Bees! When did Ruffin record Still Inl My Heart? I know you ask Bees this question but I'll answer it anyway. ;D ;D The song was recorded, ironically, during the Tempts glory days in the mid 60s. How Don Davis, who, I think, produced this record got David to record it, is beyond me. I do recall from folks who were in the business back in the day, that it wasn't unusual, for singers do some 'moonlighting' for other record companies. The Funk Brothers did on numerous recordings outside of Motown during their glory years. You can hear James Jamerson's busy bass on Jackie Wilson's classic 'Higher & Higher'. So I think that's what happened in David's case. I think he might have been 'testing' the waters but how he was able to do it without Motown knowing(or they probably did but probably threatened the other record company with a lawsuit) is beyond me. I'm still trying to get my hands this song. I saw it up for bid many times on ebay but never could get it.

I forgot to add that Don Davis produced David's last two LPs on Warner Brothers. So it sounds like David and Don might have been good friends and I assume that their colloboration was something that was meant to happen during David's Warner years. Pretty neat, when you come to think about it!

I cannot get enough of this song. David sounds so vibrant on this record. It's hard to believe this record is from the late 1950s. This song doesn't sound like it was done in Detroit. It was probably done out there in Memphis somewhere. At least, it sounds that way to me.
