Below are pieces of my narrative for the opening of my documentary. I am reading while establishing shots of emerge...
Narrated by Trish Stevens
"It lies flat amongst the scattered headstones; beyond, Detroit bustles with life. In this tranquil spot, it is distinguished from its neighbors. Even after eighteen years, its brightly polished slate shines like the star whose resting place it shelters. Although only fifty when he died, David Ruffin, like other singers whose lives where cut tragically short--Marvin Gaye and Sam Cook--stands as a twentieth century music icon. On the edge of a second chance of success, he was left to die in a Philadelphia hospital, alone.
To many, David Ruffin remains a major character whose talents help build Motown. To others, he lost his way by both the spoils and mistrust of Motown. To his loved ones and friends, however, David Ruffin remains an unforgettable presence, a ghost whose talent, generous spirit and love cannot be erased by the passage of time…(fade)
(page 4)…The investigators of David Ruffin’s death made a number of mistakes which, from the beginning compromised the integrity of the case. First and foremost were the continual leaks made by various officials and friends from Philadelphia to members of the press, depriving the investigators of an important element in interrogating witnesses and potential suspects.
The scene on the corner of Viola and 52nd Street, the crack house where an alleged crack dealer reported Ruffin smoked five vials of crack cocaine in twenty-five minutes, was not searched for forty-eight hours allowing potential evidence to be discarded…."
The above-mentioned is the property of Trish Stevens for her not-for-profit documentary Hurried Findings: the Death of David Ruffin (November 2002-current 2009). It will be dedicated to those who truly knew and loved David Ruffin.

Thank you "dancer"....
My mission to get PPD, the local media (one specific reporter with the Philadelphia Inquirer) and the International Association of Coroners and Medical Examiners in PA to review Mr. Ruffin's death investigation. This organization was part of a research report conducted by the U.S. Department of Justice. In the report Jeanne M. Adkins, State Legislature, Colorado wrote:
Quote - "...How local death investigations do their job is crucial to family members who are mourning a loss today and who may be seeking justice tomorrow. Most of us cringe at the idea of death investigations where important steps were omitted that might have led to arrest and ultimately convictions in those deaths. Justice denied breeds contempt for the institutions created to ensure that justice is done."

It is because of the inconsisties, the many inconsisties, that a review into Mr. Ruffin's death investigation is much needed. I was sent the following article, I "think" it comes from THE DAILY NEWS, Huntingdon, Saxton, Mount Union, Orbisonia, Pa., Wednesday, June 6 1991 ( ?) The part that interest me reads: Quote - "Murrell, however, said Ruffin was in his office hours before he was found dead sending contracts involving a European tour by fax......(found dead?) that's a new one." and, "Murrell said he and Ruffin had been close for years....Years ago, Ruffin flew from Detroit to sing 'The Impossible Dream' at the funeral of Murrell's mother, Murrell said.'" ...For years? So Ruffin knew Murrell before 1989 when Ruffin began living in Philly?

I received an email and the individual was upset because I was not taking into consideration "the children" and I was disrespecting them In 2004 Addie and I showed "3 children" documents that included forged signatures on very important document(s) not one, many since 1991. In addition, their father's Hall of Fame trophy was located being auctioned off at Lelands. I was disappointed to learn they were not better stewards of his legacy and staying on top of matters that were of most important to THEM. I mean no disrespect, however I viewed the DVD of the gathering after the funeral, the same person who is quoted she never allowed David to do drugs in her house just sits while a joint is being passed by one disrespectful egghead to another. That is disrespect. IMO, respect equals finding the truth. Unless "the children" were in Parkside Bar, on 64th Street, the limousine, on Wynnwood, or Viola and 52nd or Drexel, I do not need their assistance at this point, I am almost done. DISRESPECT? PLEASE

(((Thanks J)))
I found it interesting.
On a different note...a "dream come true" - PPD detectives to establish a timeline of events from May 19, 1991 until David Ruffin's arrivial at the hospital ER, review the case file, all interviews, ME/autopsy report, Photograhs and PUBLISHED QUOTED articles, ET (Entertainment Tonight) segment, video (dvd) of after the funeral, banking/financial records of specific individuals immediately following David Ruffins death, land line and cell phone records from May 26, 1991 forward.
Which is true? "...Murrell said Ruffin left his office that afternoon and he doesn't know what happened after that." paraphrasing..."...however after talking to other individuals, detectives learned Ruffin was at Murrell's between 10-11 PM."
WHICH IS IT?

Trish, it is obvious he was not going to tell the truth. Why should he? It appears that he had all he wanted...

There was no real invesigative reporting...two of the papers listed below have Eddie Kendick's photo with Ruffin in the caption. Two days in a row.
Chronicle Telegram - Elyria, Ohio - Tuesday, June 4, 1991 page 13 and Wednesday, June 5, 1991 page 29.
They propbably pulled the Philadelphia Inquirer off the AP or UPI wire, shuffled the words and went to print. The point is, NO ONE dug deep.
The Daily News - Huntingdon, PA - Wednesday June 5, 1991 page 10
Titusville Herald - Titusville, PA - Thursday, June 6, 1991 page 5
Check them out.
