Hey Wyldeflower yeah Marvin is cool, of course. But you know, we women like David!!! Marvin is a great singer, but he just doesn't do it for me like David does. David's voice is just so unique. Nobody sounds anything like David, in my opinion. And from what I've read, Marvin thought so too!

Wyldeflower just checked out Stevie Wonder and Clarence Paul doin blowin in the wind. Thanks for letting me know; I always wondered who that background voice was. Clarence is also a unique voice, isn't he? Here's another one of his: www.youtube.com/watch?v=X8ZIM5jDTbgI only recently discovered the whole Northern Soul phenomenon! I never thought I'd hear anybody who sounds like Ruffin, but this guy Perry Barrino comes the closest! According to the first comment on youtube he was hot wax's answer to Ruffin. www.youtube.com/watch?v=YOm7he2vVnE

I have got quite a lot of Northern soul cds myself i went to wigan Casino once in my youth..Clarence Paul did make a few northern soul songs he was mainly a producer at Motown and mentor to little stevie wonder but he had an a amazing voice .I liked that link you put up i nearly woke the house up listening to it..David is on some of my northern soul cds.I dont think david was promoted here in the UK as much as Jimmy and i think a lot of people here tend to like the smoother sounds of jimmy where as i appreciate a great voice a raw talent is what i like.. I have allways been a big motown fan and have most of the albums .I am also keen on smokey Robinson..And i adore the Four Tops as well.. Marvin Gaye is ok he was preety and had a ok voice but not a great voice me and my husband have different music tastes he liked music like earth wind and fire and roy ayres,& Donny hathaway and more upbeat music than me i dont let him play his music on my stereo..LOL>> ;D ;D .David had something special..Like Al Green has something special also i saw him in concert in Bham uk and he sang like a little bird without music and you would have thought he had a orchestre behind him he was amazing. I have allways been a great fan of jimmy as well i have seen him he came to my local disco dive when i was young he was lost and i showed him how to get their .. ;D But david had the X Factor and he was a great loss to the music world He also didnt get a fair deal from Motown and should have been promoted more and not held back..I think he just had so much energy and his voice is special he sings really well with eddie and also he sings well with his brother..David was very special and they knew it thats why they squireled away his music in vaults.. Keep the music coming... ;D
I suppose you have heard this one its on a Rarest detroit sounds cd i have..

Rufferino, I'm puzzle, you stated in your recent posting, in " Ruffin Family Views About Unsung" tread reply # 34 that you are a man. In this thread you stated that you are a woman. I love your name, it is an Italian liquor and Genna stated that it was the name DR, gave when he introduced himself to her.

Hi ruffan 7 I had to go back and check out that thread you mentioned....I can see why it is confusing. When I said "I am a man" it was part of a quote that I copied and pasted, that dc had posted earlier in that same thread. So dc is a man. I am, indeed, a woman! Re: the name rufferino - when I set up an account here on the board it asked for a psuedonym, and rufferino was the first thing that popped into my mind. Don't know why.....it could have been an influence from Genna's book, although it has been several years since I read it. I imagine Ruffin's name has many, many variations!

Hey Wyldeflower thanks for posting Truly Yours. It really does have a northern soul flavor, Ruffin style! Here's one for you - I had not ever heard this before. I love the way he say "I'm CRAAAZY 'bout you" the first time! www.youtube.com/watch?v=srROTDr9kEE

Yes, David could make his voice work for many genres of music. Like everyone else on this board probably, I would have loved to have seen what he would have done with his career if allowed to branch out into other opportunities in music, film, writing, etc etc etc. He was a shooting star!
