Hey Yall another new clip on Youtube....at least it's new to me! www.youtube.com/watch?v=wC-O46HeWcw&feature=relatedI copied the two youtube comments posted so far, below. "Excellent clip! David seemed like he was fun to be around. Eddie got so much swag it's ridiculous. Dennis seemed like cool peoples 2. Great upload! So, this interview is from 1991...? Well, this must be one of David's last interviews...if not the last one. R.I.P., David Ruffin, and Eddie Kendricks!"

Hi Rufferino,
Thanks for uploading the link. I never saw this footage before. It’s good to see David, Eddie and Dennis laughing together. Eddie’s comments were on the money.
Gino Washington mentioning promoters running off with the money was funny, but sad. Unfortunately, things like that really did happen especially back in the day.
I was at a Doo Wop show last year and a few of the groups wanted to get paid immediately after they performed because they were worried the promoter would either abscond with or run out of money before the show ended. Many of these guys were older and had been performing since Doo Wop began so they had seen a-lot. It was obvious they had this attitude because they had been stiffed before. It's sad that many of these old Doo Woopers still have to worry about getting paid!
I am sure if David and Eddie were alive, they could tell many stories about unscrupulous concert promoters. It seems people are always so willing to talking about David’s ‘bad’ behavior as it relates to his career, yet they never want to discuss what made him that way.
The video seems to end with Gino asking another question. I am wondering is there a Part II. If so, then I hope it gets uploaded soon.
Again, thanks for posting the link. I love seeing these guys together.

Thanks for sharing. Great clip. Groove was on the clip with David singing "If Loving You Is Wrong" I wonder if someone has the full performances.

Rufferino,
I am curious to know what do you think Eddie said?

I know he said they are going to the Superbowl... he also said that the three of them like to work together; nobody is threatened by the others, but some of it trailed off since he is farthest from the mike. Was there anything else?

Rufferino,
I heard the same thing. Eddie also says "You guys did a good job".
The part where Eddie trails off he says: Everyone has their own ___________. It sound like he is saying "identification", but I am unsure.

I thought maybe he had some comment about the promoters ripping off their money. Also, I think he says "don't try that in Japan" when Gino kind of mimics an Asian accent. It just would have been the most cool to have been able to be in a room with the three of them, and interview them to my heart's content. Every time I see an interview with a star or musician, my heart always goes out to them because they get asked the dumbest questions most of the time, or the interviewer doesn't really know anything about them and doesn't know what to ask.

Rufferino,
I agree with what you said. I wish I could have been at the interview too. The guys seem like really cool people to just 'kick" it with.
As far as the comment Gino made regarding the promoters ripping them off, I think he was referring to an event that happened when he and David performed one time in Canada because Ruffin said "yes" he remembered.

So if David didn't have this distrust of promoters, does he come back to the states at the same time as Dennis and Eddie and stay out of trouble?
Also, his high pitched laugh is very weird. lol

Also, his high pitched laugh is very weird. lol I doubt it. I love David, but Dennis and Eddie shouldn't of left him with that money. That was dangerous and unwise. Dennis said that the promoters were getting contracts ready for them to receive $100,000 a piece if David stayed clean and signed it.

Don't know anything about this Gino Washington guy, but from this interview he seems to be a bit moronic.
Also, due to it being Christmas time, the video must have been taped December of 1990. It couldn't be 1991 as David passed prior to Christmas of 91.
It's amazing how much they were doing at this stage of their career. They had just made it back from Hong Kong. They mentioned that they were just on the Grammy Awards Show. Then they planned to do the Super Bowl...which would have been Feb of 1991. Then of course they went to London in the spring time of 1991. And of course once they got back from that trip is when David passed but even before he passed, Dennis was supposedly trying to get him to sign a deal to complete another tour. He still had so much left in him. They were traveling and doing shows like crazy. He still had so much to live for. It's both sad and infuriating, but I guess he could not help himself.
