Whoa! It sounds like she has some issues. I recall hearing Ralph Carter(whom I think is fruity!) saying that they keep in touch with each other except for JJ(I think!). But he said this several years ago before Esther Rolle made her transition. I don't know if they still do but it seems like they all like each other(well, except for the late Esther Rolle & Ja'Net Dubois!). Esther and Ja'net didn't get along? what happened please tell lol Yea what happen... Inquiry ears want to know?

Get out!! Most of my grade school classmates attended Proviso East. I used to live on 12th Avenue between Washington and Madison (actually Warren). What memories!!
I was in Chicago last October and I rode around the old hood. Lord knows it's just not the same. But you can't find an Italian beef sandwich anywhere like you can in the old stomping ground.

You can find a good Italian beef...you can keep straight down Roosevelt...there's a place called Pete's Hot Dog Stand (I think) you can't miss it...right there on Mannheim Rd...but most folks go to Nick's...on Mannheim down by the expressway. Here's one for you:

That corned beef on rye is definetely on point!! When I was in town last October I did get a chance to stop in on Giordano's down on Rush Street. And if I'm not mistaken, it was an Italian place off of Mannheim Road where we went for an Italian beef. I remember they had the best cheese pizza. The fellow put out samples for the customers. When I actually lived in Chicago we used to go to this place somewhere off of North Avenue. I remember they had the best sandwiches and tasty freezes.

Queenie I know you ain't complaining as much as you and Joy be hijackin posts! I thank you jelly cuz you ain't got no good food where you are! ;D But anyway Kas...I like Giordano's but Gino's East, Italian Fiesta, and Uno's are my favorite pizzerias. I can't stand Home Run Inn...ugh! When I go back home I will have a carry on full of my favorites to bring back and put in the freezer... and sit up on the plane munching on my Garrett's popcorn! ;D In answer to your question Queenie...hell nawl Willona ain't no damn 60. If I recall...when Good Times first came on...I was barely legal myself. I thought Willona was a nice looking woman but her ass was old then! Look at her ass and look at JJ...do they look anywhere near the same age? Huh? Willona darn near old enuff to be my mama! ;D Didn't she play Shawn and Marlon's grandma on their show? On a more serious note...I saw her on TBN...it might have been that same show Ali was on giving his testimony...but anyway Janet' said she darn near had both of her legs amputated...but her faith in God...helped her heal! She said at times she could not even walk. But she looked very well and if she had not told you...you would never had known she had been that ill! God is good ain't He?

Esther and Ja'net didn't get along? what happened please tell lol Yea what happen... Inquiry ears want to know? E! channel did a behind the scenes at Good Times and Janet D'ubois(Wilona) revealed that when she was first casted on the show, Esther Rolle did not want her there. Matter of fact, Esther said that she refuse to take the 'Florida' role if Wilona was involved. Apparently, the producer, Norman Lear, who was also produced 'All In The Family' and 'Maude', talked Esther into staying. I can't remember nor do I recall Wilona addressing why Esther was hostile to her but obviously, it was something that happened before either of them made the big time. Esther was very staunch in her position about positive roles for African Americans in TV and perhaps, Wilona was the type to take any role thrown her way. I have the E! channel episode on tape. I'll re-watch it again and post the correct info.
