For those of you who don't know, this song is a Smokey Robinson Classic but Eddie and Paul are trading leads.
Where are my manners? Thank You Mr. Smokey Robinson allowing Eddie to sing on your song.
Whew,,, board When I first heard this song, I had to stop the music and reflect { breath in and out}.
What an excellent gesture EJK and PW trading off leads. Smokey's version is upbeat however; temt's version is slow and seductive.
I wonder who idea was it to record key lower than the original version SM?
btw, Did tempts performed this song on the road??
What year was the song released?
Did the Tempts record any other SM besides the one mention in this thread?
At the time of the recording, was DER par of this wonderful collaboration?

The Tempts sing Smokey is an album where they did Smokey's songs. If I ever learn how to minimize files I will post them.

My favorite on this album is What's So Good About Good-bye! Eddie's voice was so sweet and crystal clear...Paul and David singing background sound so good, you wanna slap somebody! This is a song that I can't hear just one time...I have to play it ovah and ovah, and ovah!

My favorites from The Tempts Sing Smokey are "You Beat Me To The Punch", with Paul on lead and " You'll Lose A Precious Love", with Ruffin doin' it up on lead, even though I like the "Tempts Live" version of that one better. ;D

In fact I heard that song on the radio and that is why I brought that cd.

Bees I can remember another Motown artist that was righteous on this track. ;D Just joking ;D. Seriously speaking The Temptations were a writers/producers dream come true. They made every song they sang their own.

Working with David Ruffin was an enlightening experience. His voice and range never ceased to amaze me. Just when you thought you had the essence of his vocals he showed you there was much more. David Ruffin improvised on every song he sang, without exception. The amazing thing is his ad-libs always fit the song. On "My Girl" David sang ohhhhh and held that note. I did not write that into the song. That is an example of his innate ability to interpret a song. He was a true talent.

David said it in an interview once ... "My mouth was saying thw words before I did them in my head and i just did ohhh and held it, I told em let's go back, but they said no we're gonna keep that." ... LOL ... Musta been as challenging as it was enlighting lol ;D
