Where the hell is the alternate mix of "Try To Remember", and how come no one knows what the hell I'm talking about? *LONG STORY ALERT* First, let me try to explain. Long ago (about 10 years), I purchased the first CD release of the "In A Mellow Mood" album. I fell head over heels in love with the cut "Try To Remember" (along with many others). Fast forward a few years to when I bought "In A Mellow Mood" again in all its remastered glory. Great, right? Wrong! The remastered version was all the same except the backing vocals on "Try To Remember" were different (and I didn't really like it). But because I had this new remastered one I ended up selling the old one before noticing this difference (although, luckily, I did dub a version of that track to cassette). But for the longest time I didn't know how to take a cassette and put it on my computer so I could put it on my iPod; but I knew how to do it with an album. So, I thought I would be slick and buy the original LP thinking it HAD to have my version of "Try To Remember". Wrong again! So all this confusion left me wondering, what the hell happened to MY version of "Try To Remember", and why did they release that version on the 1st CD when it wasn't on the original album? And why, when there is an alternate version of "That's Life" out there, no one has re-released MY version of "Try To Remember"? It's infuriating that no other Temps fan that I have talked to know what the hell version of that song I'm talking about lol. HELP! Later

Let me see if I can try to explain the difference in versions. Okay, the "Try To Remember" that everyone knows has those "Ooooooh, ooooooh, oooooooh, oooooooh" in the background in the beginning of the song. MY version has the "Try to remember, try to remember, try to remember" in the background. Dammit! Is there any way I can upload MY version here?
Later.

Hey Duchess. I have never listened to 'Try To Remember' (I know, shame on me). I'll give it a listen. I don't doubt what you are saying because there are songs where I have heard the alternate version and no one seems to know what I'm talking about. So I don't doubt it. There is also an alternate version to '2 sides to love' and 'Since I Lost My Baby' on Temptations' Love Songs CD. That was a treat. Anyway, getting to the upload part:
1) Do you have a Y plug (you can obtain this from radioshack or some other electronic store)? One side goes into the computer and the other 2 headed side goes to audio set. Now, my set is all in one, meaning I can play CDs, tapes(my tape decks have been acting funny lately), radio and vinyl. Is your set up like that? If not, what are using to play your cassettes with? If it's one of those old time tape recorders or portable radios with tape decks, that might be a little bit of a problem. I don' t know if you can find plugs that are compatible and can connect to your computer. This is definitely something for the guys at the electronic store to answer.
2) You need to have some type of media software to upload the song to. Since you already have an Ipod, more than likely, you have software that was provided along with it so you can organize your songs. Also, the songs are also saved on your computer, it's just a matter of finding what folder it is in(more than likely it might be in 'My Music' folder).
If you want to upload it online, you'll have to find a free account that allows you to upload audio (Putfiles is a good one).
I hope this helps you. Let me know.....

I tried the putfile.com thing and it didn't work because you are not allowed to upload copyrighted material. Thanx anyway, as for you not knowing "Try To Remember" that is beyond a shame! How can you have "In A Mellow Mood" all this time and not listen to "Try To Remember"? You mean to tell me you listened to "Don't Send Me Away" but not "Try To Remember"? I just can't believe that . I just can't believe that! Later

I don't care too much for broadway/pop standards that are mushy. 'Try To Remember' is one of them. I do like the Mellow Moods LP though. There are just certain songs I like to hear more than others. 'For Once In My Life' is one I could listen to all day. Which reminds me that I have not listened to Mellow Mood in a loooooong time.

Whatevers! There is no excuse . As for "schmaltzy", I hear ya - Different strokes for different folks. Me, being a total cornball, like a little schmaltz in my life from time to time lol. But "For Once In My Life" is kinda "schmaltzy" too, isn't it? Hell, the whole album (with the exception of maybe "I'm Ready For Love") is kinda "schmaltzy" to me because of the lush orchestrations lol. It's kinda funny (ya know, me being a Paul fanatic and all) that I don't care for "For Once In My Life". Hold up, let me restate that; I don't care for that particular version. I like the one from "Live At The Copa" a little better because he talks in the beginning, dedicating the song to his wife (that he was cheatin' on lol). Later

Yeah, the Mellow Moods Lp does have a cornball factor to it but I think it's the performance of the group is what saves the record. And I think the Live version of 'For once...' on TCB took this song to another level. When most people hear this song, they think of Stevie. But folks who are diehard Tempts fans never forget Paul's version. Personally, I think Paul's version is better than Stevie's.
