David Ruffin spoke to his close friend of 17 years in late March 1991, just prior to the Europen Tour, of returning first to Detroit and eventually relocating to either Vegas or Florida.
According to my source, Ruffin had spoken to Debbie Rhone and she was aware of his plans. Alledgedly, Ruffin came back to Philadelphia to retrieve his items from where he's been staying. When they asked Ruffin "What about Diane," They said Ruffin shared in March 1991 that there were once talks of marriage between Ruffin and Showers but that Ruffin changed his mind in January 1991 and from then on their [Ruffin/Showers] relationship was all but over. The source said Ruffin told them Showers was aware of Ruffin's change of heart but had a hard time accepting it.
