There's a video on You Tube which shows David playing the tamborine and I think Jimmy Ruffin playing the guitar while David is singing @ the Hall of Fame show.
The name of the video is: The Temptations, My Girl, 1989, Hall of Fame.
What a wonderful piece of historcial footage! City Stars

Hey citystars thanks for that post; it's always great to see new footage of David & the other temps. It's fun to see so many greats up on stage together (however, I must exclude that punk Mick Jagger ) Great to see David in charge, conducting the whole shebang too!

Citystars thanks for the post. I think I may have this as someone hooked me up with the clip years ago. However, it is a hot mess. The music is way too loud and David can barely be heard. They spent too much camera time on Anita Baker & Ben E. King, Mick Jagger, Tina Turner & Bobby McFerrin. And where was Eddie?? It's like he just got his award & left the building! I am glad, though, that this was captured on tape since this was one of the last performances where David makes an appearance.

yeah the audio's bad, but it's to be expected from an impromptu kind of thing...it's not a performance per se, just all of them up there jamming and having fun....and I would imagine the Hall of Fame people did not have a large budget to hire top professional camera and audio people. As Common said, we're lucky to have this footage at all, since it's some of the last of David.

Hi Rufferino, Hi Common,
I agree, the audio was awful and I could barely hear Ruffin over the band. But, I really do get a kick out of watching David play the tambourine and Jimmy (is that really Jimmy?) playing the guitar.
I am in awe of singers who can actually sing and play an instrument. I love watching them do both. Last year I saw Martha Reeves and the Vandellas in concert, and Martha was playing the h@@l out of that tamborine. I was saying to myself "Go Martha with your bad self".
I too wonder what happened to rest of the Temps, especially Eddie. I am glad Dennis remained on the stage.
Whenever I see footage of David, I always get the impression that he really loved to perform.

Oh yeah, Rufferino. I know it's an improtu thing. But the audio sucked big time! Plus, I still feel like they should have spent more time on the ones being honored than the ones who weren't at the end. But that's just me. Hey citystars. You can tell that David loved when he did. I could only imagine what David was like when he was with the Tempts back in the day. Some folks, like my mom, were so lucky to see the Classic 5 live. I wish I was there. I, too, was tickled to see David banging that tambourine. I would have loved to see him play drums. Yes, that was Jimmy. I had no idea that he went to the ceremony. He must have been proud of his baby brother. I'm now wondering if there was ever any footage of the two of them singing together.

Somewhere online I saw an old poster for the Tempts playing at the Fillmore West in San Francisco, around 1966 or 67. I REALLY kick myself for not going to see them then !!
