For the first time on DVD, this collection offers the Temptations' very best Ed Sullivan Show performances. Included here is the group's very first appearance in May 1967, in which they performed a medley of hits including "My Girl" and "(I Know) I'm Losing You." Other songs featured are the group's No. 1 hit "I Can't Get Next to You," a playful version of "You've Made Me So Very Happy," the Top Ten hit "Psychedelic Shack," and the 1969 hit single "Runaway Child, Running Wild" with Dennis Edwards replacing David Ruffin. The Temptations' last performance on The Ed Sullivan Show (1971) is also included, broadcast just a few months before the show went off the air, in which they performed "Get Ready" and their No. 1 hit "Just My Imagination (Running Away With Me)." Tracks 1. Medley: Girl (Why You Wanna Make Me Blue), All I Need, My Girl, I'm Losing You 2. Don't Look Back 3. Medley with The Supremes: Get Ready, Stop! In The Name of Love, My Guy, Baby Love, I'm Losing You 4. Runaway Child, Running Wild 5. I Can't Get Next To You 6. You've Made Me So Very Happy 7. Psychedelic Shack 8. Get Ready 9. Medley: Ain't No Mountain High Enough, I'll Be There, My Sweet Lord 10. Just My Imagination (Running Away With Me) BONUS 11.Hello Young Lovers 12. DC,
Thanks for posting this information, I ordered mine on Tuesday and received it yesterday. I was thrilled to learn the Temps had their own Best of Ed Sullivan DVD.
I always enjoy watching old footage of David, Eddie, Paul, Dennis, Melvin and Otis perform.

Hi DC,
The DVD is great. I really enjoyed watching the featured performances. I admit I am partial to any video featuring David Ruffin.
My favorites are:
1. Medly (Girl Why You Wanna Make Me Blue, etc.) I love the singing and the choregraphy. Those guys could surely dance. David, Eddie, Paul, Melvin and Otis always appeared to have wonderful chemistry and certainly looked like they were having fun. I always smile when I watch them perform.
I also enjoyed watching the guys shake Ed Sullivan's hand at the conclusion of the performance. The Temps seemed really excited and genuinely happy about meeting him. I only hope they were beaming with pride when they returned to their dressing room.
2. Don't Look Back. Paul and they guys sounds great and the guys are looking very handsome in their suits. David's and Paul's dance moves are killer.
3. The Supremes and The Temps (I am aware of the controversy, but both groups are really rocking. I love the outfits and the energetic performance. Everyone looks like like they are having fun and of course, David is doing his thing.) Makes me wish I was old enough to have seen the Motortown Revue.
4. Hello Young Lovers I love this rendition of that old standard. Singing sounds great and of course the guys look fine.
5. Autumn Leaves, nice change of pace.
All of the performances showcased in this video are certainly a throwback to another time when stars actually had talent and could just grab your attention with their superior voices and impressive choreography.
This is a wonderful piece of history,
Hope you enjoy watching it as much as I did.

The only one I feel is missing is the medley where they performed "Cloud 9" and "I'm Gonna Make You Love Me". Then they came out and did "The Best Things In Life Are Free." That was one of their best that I think was omitted.

It's about time that this footage is finally being offered for everyone to enjoy. I have bootleg copies of some of this footage, some of it in fair or good condition. I might end up getting this because of the better quality. I don't know why it took the Sullivan estate so long. They should have released this stuff during the time the Tempts' movie came out back in '98. Also, I can't understand why this wasn't released with the previous Classic Temptations 'Get Ready: Definitive Performances 1964-72' DVD. Anyway, it sounds like worth getting, just for the medley alone. The Hello Young Lovers' segment is wonderful. I'm glad that everyone can now experience the magic of the group. Notice, I did not say anything negative about O. See how objective I can be SOMETIMES about our beloved C5. ;D

The Getting Ready Definitive Performances dvd came with a booklet and Otis commentary throughout the dvd. This Sullivan dvd was straight to the point. There was no booklet or commentary. It was just Sullivan and the performances. It's still great, I'm just wondering why this dvd was so bare boned?

I'll assume the lack of a booklet or commentary could be because the main participant, Ed Sullivan, has been dead for 3 decades. Unlike Dick Clark, who has commentary on his self-released Bandstand footage, Ed Sullivan probably didn't make his comments known except very rare interviews. I don't know if Sullivan did do alot of interviews about the acts that were featured on his program during that time? It would be interesting to hear his observations on them. Sometimes, I wish that David, Eddie & Paul were still alive to hear their take on performing on shows such as Sullivan. It would have been refreshing to hear their perspectives.

Okay. My question was answered....sorta. When I looked on Amazon to see if the clip 'Hello Young Lovers' was a medley, I noticed that the segment is by itself. On my bootleg copy, Ed Sullivan introduces them and then they sing 'Hello' , which segues into 'Don't Look Back'. Also, if my memory is not failing me, 'Don't Look Back' was a little longer than 2 minutes (I also have the clip by itself too). I'm wondering why did they split the segment up the way they did? Still would get it though.

Finally picked up a copy of the Sullivan DVD. It was pretty bare bones but the performances are outstanding. Well, honestly, I have been only looking at the ones with Ruffin. ;D Eventually, I'll watch Dennis' stuff but right now, really am enjoying the performances with Ruffin especially, 'Don't Look Back' with Paul on lead. This song works so much better live than it does on records. The bass really kicks on the live version!
