This is the original version of 'On & Off' by the group, Anacostia. They were originally called 'The Presidents' (5-10-15-20-25-30 years of love). Of course, I love David's bright and energized version. ;D youtu.be/6PcuYIW6CMQ

You know, I actually like this slower, softer version of this a bit better than the arrangement they gave David. I would have liked to hear David do this in a softer tone, sort of like the way he did "Since I Lost My Baby." Basically, they shoulda just let David make his own decisions about how to record the songs.....

I like the Anacostia version as well. I think they also did the original version of 'Walk Away From Love'. I found a lover's rock version of 'Walk Away From Love' which I think is pretty cool, too: youtu.be/tzJrFPQ9eEY

yeah the reggae treatment is cool. Not crazy about the lead singer's voice....I'm spoiled by Eddie, Damon, Philip Bailey, etc

I wouldn't compare a reggae singer to a R&B singer because the genres and the techniques of singing are a little different. I personally feel that Eddie K. was one of the best counter tenor/falsettos that ever lived. Ron Isley is excellent too.

Nice find. I really like this version to from a first listen. Probably just as much as David's version.
