What's up? Recently I've been interested in expanding my CD collection, starting with The Temptations. I've looked at places like Wal-Mart, Best Buy, to FYE, to Hastings, etc. and they only seem to have Temptations greatest hits collections, and not the actual studio albums.
So this got me wondering a few things. Have the The Temptations albums (Sing Smokey, With A Lot O Soul, Cloud Nine etc.) been reissued on CD....recently, if at all? I *seem* to have found a few Tempt CD's online, but they're pretty expensive or out of stock, which has me thinking that the official studio albums by the Tempts are pretty rare and valuable nowadays and/or most of them are only available on vinyl. I've found this to be the case with Ruffin's solo albums too, the only CD of his that isn't a compilation album that I've found is 'David' from 2004.
Any info would be appreciated.

Hey flameace I don't know where you live, but here in the SF Bay Area we have some good used record stores like Amoeba and Rasputin where I have had good luck finding Temps and David CD's. Here are the links to their websites, good luck! www.amoeba.com/www.rasputinmusic.com/

You have a good point. I think it's the music industry in general. Stores only have cd's that are almost a guaranteed sale. It seems they are not putting out cd's for the hardcore fan. I distinctly remember buying the "Mellow Mood" and "Live" albums from Best Buy. This was many years ago. But the Tempts albums up until early 70's or so are relatively easy to buy online. The prices are pretty inexpensive. I remember Universal was cleaning out their warehouse a few years ago. They were selling brand new CDs for cheap on eBay. The more you bought the cheaper it was ( as a whole). I snatched up "Meet The Temptations", "The Tempting Temptations", and "Getting Ready" in one package for dirt cheap. I don't think I paid $20.00 for those three including shipping. But they are readily in stock on sites like amazon, bestbuy.com etc.. I do remember they have import twofers that are imported online. They combined "Mellow Mood" and "Wish It Would Rain" on one cd. They did these with a few other Tempts albums as well. But you might be able to find some of these cd's in stores. I remember seeing this twofer at Borders. But the imports are expensive. Now with David and Eddies solo Motown albums, (unless you come up on a miracle) you are going to have to go online for those ( specifically amazon.com now). Hip O Select released all of David and Eddie's Motown solo albums on two volumes a piece. David Volume 1&2 ( Two CDs for both collections) and Eddie Volume 1&2 ( One two cd collection. And Volume 2 a three cd collection). Unfortunately both of those collections are out of print on Hip O Select. Hip O only puts out limited editions of their products. They just re released David from 2004, after popular demand after it sold out during its initial run. These collections are available on mp3 format on amazon. You might find a good sale or a used copy on there or eBay now. I think that's it on that end. David's two Warner Brothers albums are on amazon as well for I think around $10.00 a piece Hope that helped. Any more questions Ill be happy to answer.
