That was absolutely terrible. I hope that woman had the sense to eventually leave her husband (but of course, back in the day, women were told to 'stick' out). David saved his life alright and I'm not surprised that David had to protect himself. Obviously, being living in the world along time, particularly the streets, teaches one to have their guard up at all times. Thanks for sharing.

Yes, a disturbing story in some aspects. Shows what musicians had to put up with just to do their craft and make a living. But David just seems like he was such an ethical person in his heart and soul. There seems to be some interesting conversation going on in that board. Yes, the chitlin circuit was pretty rough, with entertainers dealing with segregation, gangsters and each other, in order to make a living. I'm not surprised about Ruff's actions. Candi Stanton once said that David raised hell with a promoter who would not pay her after a performance. I think she mentioned it in an interview that she did. I think it may still be online somewhere. I'll check out the board when I have a chance.
