Hello Temp Lovers as I was perusing through message board I came across the David History's thread there were some interesting conversation taking place.
I only learned about this group through person I will love to talk one-on-one. Heck when I first time heard about the Temp song it was "Treat her like a Lady" I never heard of David or Denise and tell you the truth I did not know who was the lead singer because the group did not impress me as being the Talent Tempin Teptations. Not only that the original group members Otis and Melvin did not strike me as being in a famous group because they were background singers. I think that song came out in 1984, I might be wrong.
Before I came to your site, I have visited all lot of other regarding the Temps DR is removed from the Temptations memory, I even tried to start a dialog and I was told not to talk bad to the original members Otis and Melvin. Especially because Otis he is still trying to get the group together in which I do not care. What I wanted to know is why David is not mention on their Web Site!! What I found out is the site is run by Melvin's daughter and Otis’s friend I was told to be just be kind when addressing sensitive issues. All I want to know is why should David's Eddie and Paul memory should drag to the mud when Melvin was a drug addict (prescription drugs remember Elvis) and the impersonator group president. We as you know I was not open with open arms a matter fact; I had some interesting conversation in which I welcome.
Being new to the Tempts it does not take a rocket science to understand these men were used to fight amongst themselves. And I will lay out the ground work why I think this please remember this opinion...
Fact One the Name change David Ruffin and the Temptation yes the name should have been changed in 1964-1968 David leading the group bought in 5 million dollars a year to Motown. That is a lot of the money to a mom and pop operation. The Supremes did the same thing and the name changed to Diana Ross and the Supremes I forgot David did not sleep with BG.
Fact two: Money, when the three tenors question the money factor well we all know what happen to that David was out!! Eddie and Paul were heading in that direction in a matter of years. They were believed even though you are the number one group in the world please don't question the money.
Fact three: Once the three original tenors left the group, BG had a lost of memory of why his bank account is so large. He let them fen for themselves. Now remember these were young men trying to make it in something they love. While BG was polishing their dance steps, he should have polished how to become success in and out of the group. I don't understand who you can have your money (Temps) argue amongst themselves to a point that they were voting people out. In opinion, Barry has done what some many sports team does we only want you when you are making money for me. I don't care if you don't make it once you leave the organization and that is why some of them turn to drugs or better yet killed themselves (does this sounds familiar).
Factor III Since the group was number one in the world in the middle of the 60's why did they venture out into the movies like Diana and Michael? The have should have fired the manager Shelly Berger for not doing his job not David. At least David bought some money into the group, Shelly did not do what he was being paid to do is to bring each member success beyond their dreams. But the only thing he bought to the group with revolving doors and the original member using the memory of the fallen members to make money.
Finally, the reason why I am a true Tempt Fan is because of the three tenors David, Eddie, and Paul. I bought MyGirl: the very best of The Temptations CD and listening to the CD it does not take a doctor to understand why the Tempts were so famous. The three tenors could have left the group and become very successful without the two remaining members.
David is a Temp forever no matter who tried to shake his memory. I am tried of hearing about his behavior and drug problems. So what!! No one could have put the Temps on the map but David remember the group organized in 1961 first successful hit 1964 all I can say is David.
If any of the family members reads this article, I want to thank you for having a talented dad. He was a credible man and did not lower his standard when so many could have done to trash each individual member.
