Can anyone share with me the relationship between David, Paul and Melvin? I know I read that Melvin was David distant cousin (I am glad he was not mine no loyality!!) did they get along. What about Paul how did he like David (newcommer) taking his spot as lead.
I don't need to ask about the snake in the grass because all I have to do is look at that pathatic movie and I will find the answer.

My guess is maybe Paul was a little envious of David having a lot of leads; but not necessarily have a dislike for David because of it. It's not like David had a choice. It's the producer's decision who he want to lead a song. I think David had greater flexibility, that's why he was given more leads...he could do what the producer wanted him to do. Which leads me to this question. Is that why Paul was quick to vote David out? Did he figure he could get more leads without David there? Just curious........ |

That was the same thing I was thinking about get David vote out and Paul and Eddie returns to lead singers. That is probably the reason why Paul started a drinking problem because of his presence in the group and friendship between David and Eddie. .

Abe I have read that remark attributed to Paul too. Paul could sing,but I think the producers fell in love with David's vocals and his special way of selling a song. Cause he sure could sell a tune.  Not taking anything away from Paul cause that was a sanging brother too. The people making the decisions wanted Ruffin on the majority of the leads.  Dennis Edwards always says he was a Temptation because Paul Williams didn't return,so maybe Paul was to be the lead singer once David was "tricked" out of the group. |

Yes Molly I agree with you maybe Paul felt things will go back the way it was before David became apart of the group. Eddie and Paul will switching doing leads.
