This album was produced by Bobby Miller. Bobby Miller also was the producer of the Mighty Dells. Anyway, what songs do you like from this LP? I love all of the songs but song that I don't listen to is Mortal Man. It was like David had a premonition. I don't know. Also, this LP includes Common Man, I Miss You & A Little More Trust, which is featured on David's Ultimate Collection. Any thoughts or feedback on this record?

Common I know what you mean about "Mortal Man" ,but I like to play it. "I Miss You" is one of my favorites too. "Common Man" I like the words,I don't particularly care for David's vocals. Some part's of the song I thought he had to sing in too low a voice.

Rovin Kind, the LP's first cut, is quite symbolic & semi-autobiographical. I like how the song opens with the roar of a motorcycle then the drummer kicks in & David starts whistling! The lyrics were well-tailored for David as he sings 'I gotta follow the sun, staaaay on the run'. As usual, David always makes a song personal & I guess that's why I feel like it's one of those songs where David gives us a little peek into who he really is. Molly, this is first time I heard David sing in a lower octave. Most of the time, producers usually have him singing in a higher range. So to me, it was a real treat to hear him sing in a different range.

Hey! I love that entire Lp. I Miss you is my favorite cut. Molly I like Common Man too. It is a departure from David's usual sound, but I love the vocals and the lyrics.

Dang...that's strange. Common Man and I Miss You are two of my least favorite Ruffin songs. I don't know why...they just don't move me...altho he is talking plenty of stuff on I Miss You. Maybe cuz I didn't like Teddy at the time.

I don't have this CD.. Common I know you mention the producer however, what is the name of the label.
Did Motown market the LP? I have one CD of David and I think Common Man is on there as well as Statue of Fool.
Board I know you are going to agree with me but I don't like Statue of Fool song. The song just don't represent him!! Yes, I am aware he wrote the song but I just don't like it...

New, I like the song. It becomes my anthem when I realized that I have blown something due to foolishness.

It contains 3 songs that are from the LP that's being discussed. The songs are: Common Man, A Little More Trust & I Miss You. Yes, Statue is also on this compliation as well. I like 'Statue' it but I can only listen to it when I'm in a certain mood. If I'm in a jovial mood, I ain't trying to hear that song. If I'm in a serious or melchanoly mood, I'll listen to it. Weird but true. The lyrics, to me, sound very autobiographical. Now, there has been some controversy as the fact that David didn't write the song. A country singer named Jan Crutchfied claimed he wrote it in '62 & recorded it in '68. It could be that Jan probably did write the song but it's also been well known that singers have had songs stolen because they never copyrighted it. It could've been possible that David, who claims he wrote at 18, might've perform this song at a club or somewhere when he was still struggling & someone heard it & took it. That could've happened too. Anything is possible. I don't know. The only person whom I think can answer this question would be Eddie Bush, since he was David's caretaker when David was a teenager.
