I saw the petition for Dennis and Otis. If there is going to be one, why not send one to BG and ask for him to release all David Ruffin/ Temps material from 1964-68? While we are at it, why not march on LA with petition in hand? Maybe we'll get some press coverage. That might stir things up.

Hello ((Andy)) I think it would be a good idea to create a petition to have all of David's solo album's released along with any other Temp stuff. We have one for Eddie, other's are working on one for the 70's Supremes so why not Ruff?? But it would have to be directed at Harry Weinger because he's the one in charge of the older material.

G'morning to all, I know little about this, but what I am learning is that when one reaches in the numbers of 400, 500 and up, folks will begin to pay attention...CP you have this many and more who view The Royal Palace...just a question, can you set up a way here to collect as well? Drex

For david's early stuff we would have to find his old labels BEFORE motown ... Luckily you have me to tell you what these are ;D ... VEGA, And ANNA (Anna being anna gordy, a sister company to motown owned BY BG's Sis) Vega was the first label David was ever on ... So beside motown we would have to petion VEGA and hope they agree ... But I am all up for it if it happens ... ;D

The person that would we would have to appeal to would be Harry Weinger or better yet, above him. While I'm all for petitions, we have to look at the reality of the situation. I've seen Mr. Weinger post from time to time in another forum & everyone knows that he absolutely devoted to the older Motown material & wants to release as many unreleased 'product' as he can. Alas, Mr. Weinger must answer to a higher authority & the bottom line. He doesn't have the final say as what gets released. I'm sure he has to compromise on what get released to insure the ones that HE wants out, gets out. All Mr. Weinger's highups care about are numbers & as far at they are concerned, if it means releasing 10 more Temptations compliations with the same ole songs, so be it because that's what sells. But it also means, that we can will get anthologies by lesser known or not as popular Motown artists, such as Jimmy Ruffin, Barbara McNair, Billy Eckstine, etc. I don't know if these CDs will do will but they will be offset by the countless Supreme, Temptations, Miracles, 4 Tops, etc. CDs with the same ole songs. That is what sells. Now as much as I want David's material out there, there has to be a market for it. Same with Eddie's. This is what was told to me by someone who works behind the scenes in the music industry. The fact is it seems that Motown is more comfortable promoting David & Eddie as 'former Temptations', since they were the most identifiable(sp?) in the group than solo artists. The question is did their work, while they were alive, sell & does it continue to sell after their deaths?? Again, the execs with the clout, are interested in numbers, not sentiment. I don't mean to be harsh but that's what they would tell you. I'm all for this but we also need to understand that a petition may not be the only thing that needs to be done to get Ruff's material out there.

Common, I with Der68 is there any suggestions you can tell us to make this happen... I would like all of David's material release Tempt/solo..
I am tired of buying Tempts songs with the same material. Now you know much I love "My Girl". Every CD I own has that song on it. I know David sung more hits than that I understand My Girl was the first #1 OMG give fans a break.

Hi Common: The problems can be dealt with, but my idea was for unreleased material to be released, esp. any tapes. The world should see how great David, Eddie and Paul looked, sang, and performed, before the evidence is lost forever.
