Man I've noticed through pictures that the drugs really did him bad. By 1991 he was almost bones and his hair line kept getting higher. It was sad to see. Ya know, on that performance in 75 when he performed "Walk Away From Love" on American Bandstand, he was already starting to look like hell. But no matter what, it was the opposite with Eddie. The man never lost his voice. Eddie still kept his boyishly handsome looks and wonderful smile but his voice deteriorated badly in time like David's body. I think it's so tragic a loss. He always will be my favorite Temptation. EVER. I dont care who replaces him. As much as I love Ali and "Lady Soul" and the work he did on "For Lovers Only", Ruff would have done anything any Temp in his role did justice.

For the record ... Otis lied in the movie ... When they showed that David Could no longer do the splits ... I have fottage from 3 years after the reunion were David is clearly VERY ABLE to do the splits ... If not better then before ... Still dancing and delivering the greatest preformance to his ability.

AsianTempfan too me it might be combination of alot of things drugs, age, and wisdow. In spite of his health, we love Mr. David Ruffin no matter what.. And I have to agree with you NOBODY.. can sing "My Girl" BRING IT ON MR. RUFFAN...

Make the ABC's Sound good ;D davidfan You got that right! Ruffin was still a showman, and Yes he could still do the Ruffin splits. I agree with you and QNew. Drug use did affect his appearence, but age,the vigirous touring and other things also came into play. He never lost his talent, and he was a playa until the end. Ruffin's last love interest was a quite a bit younger then Ruffin. He could still attract the women. I think he was very proud of that.

I saw David's performance on AB & he didn't look bad at all. He was wearing a perm & as a matter of fact, looked much 'fuller' than he usually does. He's also wearing the same outfit that he wore on the cover of his 'Me & Rock & Roll (Are Here To Stay). If anything, I do thing that in the last 3 years in his life, drugs had clearly taken a toll on him. But the receding of hair can be attributed to age. Some people lose their hair at early age.....

I do have to admit that in my, MY GIRL: THE VERY BEST OF THE TEMPTATIONS (the 2 disc set) ... the picture of the reunion tour ... David does throw me off a bit ... But I think it was those glasses he had one ... not him .... lol ... ;D

I guess I speak my opinions because it's so tragic how we lost them, know what I'm sayin? In 75 I was saying he was starting to look boney and his hairline was starting to recede but now I understand that's age there but the boniness was just whoa ya know? He was getting worse already. The reunion he was really thinner than usual. He looked fine and vibrant as ever til about the mid 70's. Eddie always maintained that beautiful boyish smile he had since the 60's til death but it was the opposite like I said. They both were a very tragic loss to us.
