I want to thank each of you also. It's your love and support of Ruffin that keeps this board alive. At times, it does feel like he is here with us! ;D Molly, I thought the flowers would set the tone for the occassion...it was a day of remeberance.

Beesnvme I especially want to thank you for the flowers for one. But more then that. The Royal Palace is one of the few places where Ruff is honored in this way. Much of what you see on the internet and read about him is negative. His voice is always complimented then it is always that but. For example his voice was great but he died of a cocaine overdose or he is responsible for the first Temptation number 1 hit but he became difficult or big headed as my moms used to say. Here you acknowledge his addiction, but you treat him like the good human being he was. Ruff was more then a voice,he was a husband,a father,a brother and a friend. You discuss the whole man in the Palace. These young bloods are interested in his life as a whole. Not just his celebrity. I know he is pleased. I know he is honored. I understand how hard it is at times to keep the focus on Ruff. But for the most part you do despite interruptions that take place. My man was a star and he deserves to have the spotlight shine on him alone. That is what you do here even with the distractions. I want to Thank most of you all for that. God Bless Reggie

Bee you did a wonderful job in the Memorial Section. The flowers set the tone how we all were feeling June 1, 2004.
Grandmother said: 'a person is judge by the company he keeps. David had some loving people in his life.

God Bless Reggie Reggie you are right a lot of the so called tempts boards are not kind to David. I get sick of hearing about David's drug problems. Hell we all have problems we all not celebrities. Elvis died of drugs you see his fans stop going to Memphis? His fans love him like we love Ruffin. My theory about the Drugs in American if people want drugs use to stop write to your local congressman. While the congressman is reading your letter, he is probably smoking a joint. Another cyber complain is David's ego problems within the group so what. I get tired of hearing this too David's ego landed him the lead singer of Tempts. Not bad for someone who start off as a backup singer? I am glad David had an ego problem because none of us will be talking about tempts because the group first number #1 his was 'My Girl' Lead singer David Ruffin. Reggie, I can't think of the board I was on but the board has a Wannabe Tempt Section. You are not going to believe who name is first David Ruffin. A wannabe Tempt this did not make sense to me considering David's contributions to the Tempt Organization (Paul's words) made the group household names. I gave them my 2 cents about their Wannabe Section and left David deserves more recognition than moderator was giving him. Also a lot of the boards’ claim they knew tempts but when you ask them a question a friend of friend told them the answer. You can't take their answers to court the judge throwing it out on hearsay. Newer fans want to know the truth about David not la la land stories. We want to know his likes and dislikes. He views on the music industry. What pissed David off? Even though David is my favorite tempt, I asked questions about the other four members Eddie, Paul, Jerk and Melvin. I want to know why the perfect harmony, slick dance moves, and tantalizing wardrobe 40 years latter tempts are the best R&B in the world. The men set the standard no other group has step up to the plate. Tempts were the 'voices' The palace is a special place for me because of the members. The members are willing to talk about David's life as a whole not his celebrity’s status. Thank you Bee for creating a special place call David Ruffin's Royal Palace.

This is the very reason I created this board. I got tired of engaging in cyber battle on these various boreds. Every where you go, Ruffin is raked over the coals for one thing or another. Here in the Palace, we don't have to do battle. We acknowledge his flaws and move on to the good stuff! ;D Ruffin had too much talent not to be celebrated. They all had personality flaws. They all had huge egos...it takes a huge ego to survive in this industry. Have you ever known a singer that said...I'm not that good? Please! ...and you never will. While watching David perform, at times, it seemed like he scared himself sometimes. He would have the strangest look on his face. It's one thing to be arrogant and a totally different thing to be arrogant when you have nothing to be arrogant about. When you know you got 'it'...all you can do is brang it! And David did it non apologetically! My Man!

Reggie,QNew and Bees said it much better then I could. It's all true. Ruffin's great voice and personality are what draws people to him. In death as well as life. Ruffin does deserve to have his spotlight and Bees you have given it to him. I know I'm thankful.

Hello everyone, I have to second Joy's post. It really is great having you, Davey, Reggie & Molly here to share your life experiences with David. I was always hoping that people who actually knew David would be willing to discuss what he was like as a person. I'm also very grateful to Molly & Bees for sharing with me alot of things that I didn't know about DR. I was not exactly a DR fan until after the miniseries. I loved the Tempts music & had read alot about them in various Motown books that I collected since I was a teenager. Basically, I just thought, David was suffering from the Diana Ross syndrome & got what he deserved. Didn't help that most of the info about David's 'huge' ego came from 'you know who' & his sidekick. It wasn't til the miniseries, that I took another perspective on David & asked 'was he really that bad'?? Molly & I have had discussions on this & what I'm trying to get her to understand is, like Queen mentioned in her above post on other Tempts boards, a person like me who only read negative things about David, would think that the miniseries' portrayal was accurate. Dramatization or not. I became curious because I never got the sense as what he was a person. I decided to do some research myself & I stumbled onto a music site that has artist message boards around 4 yrs ago(dag! it's been that long??). I then started posting there, though, it wasn't exactly a warm reception. I had no idea that previously, that genna had gotten into it with other posters over her book(yes it's been around that long!!). A few were nice but I always felt a little unwelcomed there. Bees, Evita & another 2 former posters were the only ones who would converse with me. Anyway, I also found Tammi's board & ended up getting into it with another poster(I didn't realized how OBSESSED & CRAZED some 'fans' are!!!!!). I mean, David was called every name in the book & of course, it was based on what they read & the miniseries. So Queen is not lying when she says that on some of these 'fan' Tempt sites, David is not treated kindly. All they can harp on is his addiction & his 'turberlent' relationship with Tammi Terrell(mind you, NONE of these people knew either one of them PERSONALLY!!!). I loved Tammi as well but I could no longer post in her fan club because AGAIN, some obsessed fans cannot separate reality from fantasy & want to make David the poster boy for abuse. Granted, nobody agrees with someone being abused, but the namecalling & out & out distortions were too much tolerate. Some of these folks felt the need to put David down to elevate the other Tempts or themselves!!! Adding insult to injury, they based their 'info' on 'some relative that heard gossip from back in the day that David did this, that or the other'. Again, they never MET David personally but somehow "Aunt Ti Ti told me that he was a 'bad man'. Sorry, yall! I had a major flashback. lol. ;D ;D ;D So, also co-signing with Bees, David was just a human being who had a god-given gift & made mistakes. No more, no less. I'm just happy that this board has grown by leaps & bounds & that there are people who accepted him for who he was, not what he was. I think this board has already accomplished that goal.
