Board,
After Paul and Eddie left Tempts, how come O and Melvin hang up the dancing shoes and do something else? Melvin's voice would have garnered him a spot on radio Quite Storm while his so-called friend ran Mickey Dees shop.
Maybe, in the future, the 5 men realized they need one another other. Life lessons have taught them friendship is more important than fame and fortune. A lesson David and Eddie realized while they were touring solo, the friendship was much deeper than the pocket book.
Today, we have 500 tempts walking around singing "My Girl" "Just My Imagination" and "Don't Look Back" just plain crazy... Board, we need to change our names to Tempts everyone is doing it: Bo, Littleman, Jughead, ECT...
The group is composed of DER, EJK, PW, MF, and dumbo O honorary mention DE everyone else is figure of the group imagination.

QNew!No one was bigger tne the group. Remember that was their philosophy? They weren't going to break up because they no longer had Ruffin,Eddie and Paul. The Temptations were still a very poupal group after these talented men's departure. They certainly were not the same, but they were still good. They still put out the hits. Friendship is not as important to entertainers as "Fame" and "Fortune". A lot of hard work went into making that group and keeping it together. This was these mens dreams. You have to give O that much credit. He didn't let anybody destroy his dream. Paul's character in the mini-series said it. Pretty soon there are gonna be more ex-Temptations then Temptations! That's the truth!

After Dennis left The Tempts...the Temptations as I knew them ceased to exist...this is not to say that they were not a good group. But for me, they kinda lost their flavor. They have had some darn good replacements singers, but they will never again measure up to the Classix. I have to give Otis credit for maintaining the group because Otis' groups does have fans that love them too. It's just that the group does not sound like the Classix. Yes, we wanted the group to remain intact, but it was not meant to be. I am forever grateful that they did leave us some hella music to remember them by...and something for Otis to make his living nowadays! ;D

I do belive that there are WAY more ex tempts then tempts now ... a ratio of 16:5 ;D

I agree with every thing being said about tempt revolving door and O's has to make a living but, at what cost. Today's O is consider to be the black sheep of the tempts hell Melvin is higher on the toll pole than O. And that is not saying a lot.
Fans who supported the group before David became a tempt has turned their back on the new tempts.. All I am saying there were plenty of ways for Otis to get his 15 minutes of fame than to turn David and Eddie into a MONSTER.

Well the music wasn't the same. Even Eddie said the fans were crying out out about the change of the group in the 70's.

I know Mr. Otis is getting money in royalties. so I don't know why he feels the need to keep standing on stage.

The man needs something to validate his life.. :DI am noways a fan of O's. But The Temptations did validate his life. He was apart of the C5 ,apart of the Legend. I think he was in the "right" place at the 'right" time.
