Well, that's a good thing that it's quiet, don't you think? Now see, your timing is just off, that's all! ;D Remember what DR said? "Timing is everything". ;D ;D

That''s right. "Timing is everything".
I have not done any Holiday Shopping yet. I put a few things in layaway for my grandkids. God willing, I'll get their gifts out of layaway and have a nice quiet Christmas dinner. I don't do alot on Christmas, especially after getting the kids stuff. I think that ever since my Mother passed -- we don't celebrate it like we used to. I get gifts for the small children (except my grandson and my neice who are now teenagers). I get my grandkids gifts and my sister's kids and grandkids, my granddaugher's baby-sitter and my godson. I have a nice dinner and just chill. The kids usually go to their dad's house as well as the other grandmom's house, so Christmas afternoon/evening, I'm home looking at movies, munching on treats and just generally relaxing.
When my Mom was alive, we used to gather at her house on Xmas Eve. All the kids/grandkids and exchange gifts and I'd help my Mom cook her Holiday dinner. But we don't do like that anymore and it's this time a year that I really feel the loss sometimes. It's something that we never get used to but we just go on.
Cherish your family and your friends while they are here. Life is short. I think that "911" should have caused a lot of us to re-evaluate our lives. I know the older I get, I can not stand mess and dissention. If I THINK that it's about to jump off -- I'm gone. I lost my first cousin recently who is the same age as I. I just cried and cried and I could not stop crying. I was thinking about when she and I were little girls. We used to love "Wait a Minute Mr. Postman" by the Marvelettes and I used to love to hear her sing "You Beat me to the Punch" by Mary Wells. We used to jump rope and sing these tunes.... Man o man... I got the call from another cousin and he said: "E, you know when we call you like this, something done happened" My legs got kinda weak and I sat down, then he told me that she was gone -- a young woman. Lord Have Mercy on us.....
People that I can't get along with - I stay away from because life is too short and there are too many NICE THINGS in the world to be bothered with the stoopid stuff. Peace....

I've been glad the board is quiet. I needed a rest. Molly, what makes you think Otis would actually sing for a living?

Evita, I just needed to reply to your post regarding your Mother and cousins passing and how it has effected your Christmas celebration. I just wanted you to know that it was such a touching tribute to your loved ones. I do understand how you feel. Both of my parents and grandparents have already passed. Christmas was never the same. Please know that your post was such a gift to your Mother and cousin. It just rang with MERRY CHRISTMAS...

Hi Molly: What do you mean, "sing lead"? He can't sing lead, he can't sing backup, he can't sing at all. Oh, I forgot. Where is that Pecos Bill record? On second thought, Otis did have the lead on a Temp. tune, "Don't Send Me Away". Wasn't he singing it to BG?

Lots of "I Love You" on this board, so I love all of you too. Now, does anyone love me enough to tell me whether she's in or out? See lottery board, please.

I know he well let me rephrase that "He" said he wrote Pecos Kid, I don't know who sang lead. I know he did that Heavy Breathing thing on "Come On" that was a Distants tune, and Richard Street sang lead. He helped Ollie Ali write "Treat Her Like A Lady". Hell his list of accomplishments are "growing". :DAndy maybe we better start giving O his props!

My grandmother loved to cook & bake for the Xmas holidays before she was too ill to do it anymore. So it's going to be really hard for me. I wouldn't say anymore because you basically summed it plus I don't want anything I say come back to haunt me. Your post is totally on the money.
