Hello all I just returned home tonight after 2 1/2 weeks in Detroit. I was born in Highland Park in 19!@#$# - anyway, a long time ago- , was brought to California as a baby and this was the first time I returned back there on a family matter. I visited DR's gravesite, saw Levi Stubbs grave also, and visited Motown of course. Stevie Wonder's godson gave the tour I was on. The woman at Woodlawn Cemetery told me that DR still gets many, many visitors every year. It was very cool and I'm glad I went. There was so much to see and think about after hearing all the stories about it from my family here in Cali. Detroit is such a study in contrast - I couldn't get over the way the neighborhoods just suddenly changed from one street to the next. Where I live here in California, it just doesn't happen like that. You would never see a rich neighborhood like Grosse Pointe right next to Detroit, just one street over. I didn't get to visit all the places I wanted to after reading about them in various books, but I think I will go back again. It was really great to stand in the "snakepit" at Motown and think of all those great singers and musicians cranking out those hits that everyone knows all around the world. Especially DR!

Rufferino, thank you for sharing highlights of your Detroit trip. Btw, you are only 25 complete the last numbers of 19..... . It is nice to hear DER's fan stopping by his grave site to reminisce about the shows and music that bought back the fun times of their lives. I only can imagine. I know DER is smiling from heaven telling his admirers “thank you”. Yes, I can imagine standing in the Motown Museum “snakepit” was a thrilled… I can imagine the Temptations hovering over one mic looking at each other saying, “this is going to top” singing Beauty is only Skin Deep.

Hey Queenie if I'm only 25, then I was born in 1987, which makes me younger than my son!! ;D Just to give you a hint, I danced to "My Girl" when it FIRST came out!! I think that's too much of a hint....

Rufferino good to hear you had a nice trip, I hope to someday go to Detroit. You don't need to justify your age to Queenie, girl can't add or subtract and can't remember anything from one minute to the next.

I heard you were serving life for trying to steal Mr. Ruffin's 40 thousands dollars. btw, were you friends with Bubba while you were in the can?
