B€£RY was featured on the O*W*Network.
Some of the stories and/or information I had heard before, but I found the following interesting:
1- Did not think the song Cloud N.i.n.e should be released. He was out voted and the song was not only released but received a Grammy. He stated song was a drug song. Although Cloud N.i.n.e provided his Company with its 1st Grammy, based on his reaction when talking about it, I am not really sure he was elated this particular song won the coveted award. 2- In his conversation about the Sūpremes he disclosed he decided (his words, not mine) to pour everything behind the group.
I guess statement 2 confirms everything RÙFFIN and others felt.

Thanks for the post, Citystars. Could you post the link to that interview? I read somewhere, in someone's book, that Berry had too much talent at Motown that he didn't know what to do with, i.e. he needed to hire more promoters, etc so that all the top groups would have had the same push as the supremes. For a so-called business savvy guy, that seems like a major oversight. No doubt a lot of the groups would have preferred to have been handled by someone other than Gordy anyway.

Hi Rufferino,
I am unable to post the link because I watched the show on the OWN station. That is O Winfrey Network. I hope this information helps. Also, if you can find the show on the internet, the Diahann Carol piece is an interesting one.
I mistakenly referred to the segment as an interview, but it's really more like a taped video where the subject stares into the camera and speaks about his/her life.
Regarding your statement: ......No doubt a lot of the groups would have preferred to have been handled by someone other than Gordy anyway
You're probably right. Maybe this could be another reason why there was turmoil within the Company and people such as David desired to get out of their contracts.
