I knew it was a wrap when it came out that the jury of 6 included no blacks , 1 Hispanic, and 5 whites. How is that possible in a city that's 1/3 black? On the other hand, look at the images of ourselves that we in general put out in society. We (in general) shouldn't put out images of ourselves as antisocial thugs and then not expect to be treated accordingly. Look at how little progress we've made since the Civil Rights movement. If anything, we've gotten worse. Now that Hispanics have overtaken us in numbers and taken many of our jobs and neighborhoods, we're seen in a lot of cases as 3rd class citizens. Maybe this whole tragedy will spark positive change. As far as Zimmerman goes, he will be looked at with suspicion and prejudice from now on...the same way he looked at Trayvon and other black males. As the saying goes, when you point the finger at someone, you have three pointing back at you.

Someone wrote in this morning's paper that "some things never change, especially in the south, and especially in Florida."
Well, I think this time Florida is gonna have to face the music. Time for them to join the rest of the USA. Not that everywhere else is perfect....
Let this be the good that Trayvon's death is the catalyst for.

I think that we need to speak up when it comes to us killing our own kind as well too.. but when we kill our own kind people want to be silent that also needs to be protested. if we don't care or value us how can anyone else care and value us?! I said this before on my stuff. it's a shame and I told them last year they got attitudes with me but I didn't care when I said that trayvon's not the first and he won't be the last we have to step up and do something..stop letting thing s be and letting it go. they figure once the shock wear off we'll go back to doing nothing therefore their will be no change and that pisses me off.

Instead of reactive, we need to be proactive.
Florida needs to be shut down economically. Disneyworld can wait. Take your kids to the water park or something. Besides, Disneyworld is overpriced and overrated.
Yes, black people kill each other but the key component is that those who are brought to trial, 9 times out of ten, GO STRAIGHT TO JAIL FOR MURDER!!! They don't get off because of some ridiculous law called 'stand your ground' which Zimmerman *cites* he was doing when he killed Trayvon in so-called self-defense.
Hello??!! This man killed a kid for walking home. Period. That nonsense that Trayvon should've just walked away. UH, DUMBASS. THAT'S WHAT HE WAS DOING BEFORE SOCIOPATH ZIMMERMAN DECIDED TO PLAY RENT-A-COP, ACCOSTED, ATTACKED AND KILLED TRAYVON! Why in the hell would Trayvon attack a man unless HE WAS ATTACKED FIRST?? Those jurors, particularly the one who just came out, had their minds made up before that trial began. They just needed a reason to get let this sociopath off. Granted, she *claims* that two jurors wanted to charge him w/ manslaughter, somehow they *changed* their mind and acquitted this fool. The feds need to get involve asap.

There is a lot of protesting going on here in the SF Bay Area. People are definitely not letting this just go away. Somehow, I get the feeling that this time, there may be more organizing, demanding that laws be changed, and just generally less of an attitude to just forget about it. This Stand Your Ground nonsense has to be eliminated from the lawbooks. It's a recipe for disaster.

I agree with everything yall just said/ we need to keep fighting and not let anything die down cause they figure once it does no changes gonna be made. zimmerman is definitely a marked man and whoever get him need to crown that person a hero because he went out there trying to play a cop and took that kid's life for nothing. I heard about that novah that man need to fry too but he told the police he has cancer he's gonna die or something to that effect. he was dead wrong too. this stuff just saddens me.

Novah and Brandy,
I read that mess and I was damn disgusted, I clicked off the page with a quickness when I read that his lawyer claimed that the old racist is on his way out. Well, I hope he heads straight to hell with gasoline drawers on. He kills this kid based on the stereotype that because he's black kid, he's a thief. No proof, no nothing. Just killed this child in cold blood. And if I was the mother, I would sue the damn police department since they made the decision to give that fool back his guns. All of this is just senseless. This poor kid was taking out the garbage and gets killed in front of his mother. Just plain disgusting.

The ONLY good thing is that it was caught on tape this time. Otherwise, we would be hearing a lie that the teen attacked the man first.
