Brandy,
Get these books. If you know of a bookstore that sells outdated books, that is even better. Here in NYC, we have Strand Book Store which has been in existence for decades. That's where I picked a few of my Motown books.
Here are ones that I think you should get:
Raynoma Gordy - "Motown, Berry and Me"
Tony Turner (of course!) - 'Deliver Us From Temptation'
The Motown Coffee Book (I got it for $20 at the Strand!)
Sharon Davis' Motown book (Eh, it's okay but does have some nice pictures)
Tony Turner (again! lol) - 'All That Glittered: My Life With the Supremes' (as much as people bash Tony or try discredit him, I noticed his book is go to for other 'authors' when they want to write about Motown or the group)
Divided Soul - Marvin Gaye (w/David Ritz) (As this book gets older, I have certain issues with it and I can see why some of Marvin's folks didn't care for Ritz)
Right now, I would like to get Marvin's ex, Janis' book (disappointed that it was written with David Ritz but what can you do) and Richard Street's book.
If you have money to waste, you can pick up Mary Wilson's and Otisssssssssssss' books. Besides dogging 'Diane', Mary also discusses her conquests. Otis, I honestly never read it but its the same old bs about David being this, that and a third with him probably hinting at his sainthood.
