Very true,i think its safe to say when i quote Mr Eddie Kendricks "we(Eddie and paul) brought the better half"....then David came on board these guys were not a force to be reckoned with...i would say melvin was very instrumental ( no pun intended :-)) in the classic 5 fantastic bass,he is very much appreciated also, Otis could have been ANYONE else,he didint stand out..Just another body....you speak of chemistry that these men had ,and i cant help but to agree...i feel proud of these men (Classic 4..i mean 5 lol) ...while on the topic of chemistry per se, as i was speaking to a friend of mine about the other day...even footage of David and Eddie performing as a duo in latter years, didin't you just see the closeness..the bond as performers...i mean with the exception of the splits from the group and Motown ,and all the trials and tribulations these two have never lost their bond as you can clearly see when they performed together....i just think thats great!
"Cholly Atkins was really on his game on the intricate dance steps"
Cholly Atkins didn't play ...
True indeed, RL.
Ruffin & Kendrick had that kind of friendship that was truly special. It seemed no matter how angry they got at each other, they were always there to look out for one another. Their chemistry never waned and it seemed like the other knew what the other was going sing or do. It was great to see these men so loyal to each other. I think some entertainers of today could take a chapter from their book.
Yes ..to quote Eddie once again ( interviewer asked ,do they get sick of each other after all those years of performing together) he said "yeah sometimes we dont see eye to eye,but we go to our rooms i would cuss him out he would cuss me out ,then the next day we would be ready to go" , but that didnt affect them in any way they handled business and did their thing.and delivered.
