Okay Board I know I am killing you with all my question but, let me say you guys are doing a great Job answering them!!
Did the C5 always perform in suites? Ever, Ever in jeans. I know they had a dress down day. What about Detroit shows was there ever a jean show??
Back in the 60's was it just common male groups wore suites instead of putting on the first thing they can find like today's performers.

Noooooooooooo Jeans New. The groups back in the day were elegant. They looked like "stars". Now I have seen Smokey and the Tops even Marvin dress down wearing sweaters and slacks. But no jeans. Even when they did dress down they still looked dressed. That fine Levi,Marvin and Smokey always looked good to me LOL!LOL! Couldn't you see Ruffin performing in jeans and a jersey? LOL!LOL! Although on Kathy and Regis show I don't know what the heck he was wearing!LOL!LOL!

Hi NDF: Molly's right, of course. The guys were well dressed, better than the Tops and anyone else. My favorite was the dark double breasted suit. Anything they wore was stylish and classy. In the later years they gave that up for flashy stuff that wasn't always in good taste, in my opinion. Red suits on old, fat men ( e.g.Otis) looked ridiculous.

NDF- From the footage that I've seen, the group always wore suits. BG wasn't have it. Berry's whole criteria for his groups were that they had to be sharp, elegant & well-spoken when they were presented to the public. BG modeled his groups after alot of Black Entertainers of the 40's & 50's. There was just no way that BG would have his groups wearing jeans. Today's acts would never make it pass BG's front door to the stage without going through Artist Development. Even off stage, the groups always looked impeccable.

They were very professional in those suites.. I can't imagine them dressing down in concert venues or any other places.
When I saw the footage of the Original Leads of the Temptation, it was hard for me to see David in jeans. I know they can not walk around in suites 24/7 but they look good in them!!!

Molly Marge, can you remember when David did wear jeans. The jeans had a crease in them ironed so hard they were slick. This is the question some people have wanted to know about David when he passed. I have never seen him go out in a lemo with shorts, or dressed so unpolished. People change, but he never to my knowledge partied like this. Casual still meant a well groomed David. My memory...

I can remember Ruffin in Jean Suits {jacket and jeans} always with a silk shirt. I remember he had a orange denim one {yeah I said Orange} and he had the creases sewn in them. On "rare" occasions I have seen Ruffin look "Ruff". But we all have those days! I have seen David in short outfits. Long shorts and matchng shirt, sometimes with a matching hat. Shorts was his reported attire on the night of his death,so I guess he was partying dressed like that. Not to say that because he was wearing shorts that he wasn't dressed nice. It was hot and the '90's was a lot more casual then the 60's and 70's so everybody dressed that way. Ruffin could have planned to change,or he may have thought WTH I'm still David Ruffin! I don't think David would ever perform in shorts, but just hanging out I can see that.

Hey Peepas! We used to go to dances, and the guys used to try and dress like The Temptations. Often, the ones who dressed in those loud suits, tried to dance like Tempts too. When they headed toward us to ask for a dance, we would try and hide cuz it was embarrassing for us to be dancing with someone trying to do those steps. We would whisper, "Here comes a Temptation, let's go to the bathroom!" If only it had been a real Temptation *sigh*
