QNew I was very sad when I heard the news. I was watching BET when they announced it. They showed pictures of Eddie when he was young and as he got older. I didn't know he was as sick as he was. I thought he was still touring. I also thought now he's with Paul and Ruffin. My ex-husband went to Eddie's funeral too. Even now when I see clips of Eddie I feel sad. He was a great talent and like Ruffin he did not get the recognition he deserved. "Can I" is one of my favorite EK songs.

Tore up when I got the news. Tore up! There were a lot of prayers being said for Eddie. I was hoping against all hope that Eddie made it out of that hospitial, but he didn't. I knew his condition was bad,but I thought he would somehow beat it. He was a good person, and I loved him. I did attend his funeral in Birmingham. My heart broke for his mother. Sad thing to see a mother bury her son.

I was not shocked like I was when David died. I seem to recall knowing Eddie had an operation for the removal of one lung, but Eddie thought they got it all, and I wasn't so sure. I remember that Eddie had said that when he went to the operating room, the surgeons had arranged for My Girl to be playing. Eddie was as handsome as any man could be, and had charm and class. I met him once and I was surprised he took the time to talk to me while he was eating shrimp scampi. To this day, and forever, my son and I pray, "for Eddie, David and Paul".

I had heard Eddie was not doing well at all during this time. I, like Reggie, had no idea that Eddie would not overcome this. I just knew he would make it despite the odds. But it was not in His will! I had just got to work...the radio was on. The first thing I heard was the news broadcast. I remember throwing my purse upside the wall and screaming...Aw hell nawl! I was screaming and cussing! My coworker asked me what was wrong. It took me a while to tell her. They told me the next day, all I did was grunt and shake my head all day long...the quietest they had ever known me to be. I was speechless all day, cuz I just could not believe Eddie was gone! It was just a sad, sad day for me, especially after losing Big Daddy the year before. I think they could not live without each other.

I recall I was quite sad when it was announced on Entertainment Tonight, that he had passed away. Just a year prior to that, Eddie was on the show, warning young people against the dangers of smoking. He had already had his lung removed. He still looked good despite his illness. I could only imagine what his mother went through when he died. It's never easy for any mother to lose their child, regardless, how old they are. I heard Eddie's journey was a peaceful one. That does my heart good to know.

Eddie's passing was very hard for me. I loved Eddie Kendrick. I just kept saying what a loss. He was such a gentleman. I still miss him. Bees I kept thinking David was saying come on Corn.
