Er, um, I gotta disagree about one aspect of what O said. It was noted that David was 'asked' back into the group after Louis Price left but he declined. This info came from a Motown book and while the author's creditability might be questionable, somehow, I believe this one. I don't think O lied about this.
As for O meeting with Gordy to return to Motown, it was Smokey Robinson who helped the O & the group return to back to the fold. I have two interviews where Smokey said he was the one that got BG to let them back in the door. O probably did meet with BG after that fact. If I recall, he said in that Motown book that the company and the group (really O & Melvin) had to iron out certain issues before returning. So basically, it's not exactly a lie that O met with BG, it's just that the Smokey part was left out. ;D
