I wonder how much of impacted David suing Motown hurt his solo career??
Also when the dust settled, did David get a new contact under the Motown lable.
What year did David leave Motown??

I wonder how much of impacted David suing Motown hurt his solo career?? Also when the dust settled, did David get a new contact under the Motown lable. What year did David leave Motown?? I think the lawsuit eventually did have some impact. When I have time, I will post an excerpt from J. Randy's Motown book.....I think David was pretty much stuck with the same contract that he signed when he was a starving artist. And he left(or better yet, his contract was up) in '77. |

That contract musta been a truckload full of $#!+ ... $30 ... 4,000 X 12 = 48,000 ... He was supposedly getting 1,000 a week ... that 4 a month times the twelve months motown cheated him for 18,000 dollars ... That sux  |

That contract musta been a truckload full of $#!+ ... $30 ... 4,000 X 12 = 48,000 ... He was supposedly getting 1,000 a week ... that 4 a month times the twelve months motown cheated him for 18,000 dollars ... That sux I think O, at least I think he said it, said that they made $100, 000 a week but took home a flat salary of only $500. So I found this article interesting that he made that much money over a period of 2 yrs.  |

But I think they were taking home very little compared to what they were making. Of course they had deductions taken from their gross. Studio time,travel expenses,uniforms and maintenance ect. |
