I just had to count the number of times David pushes his glasses back up on his nose, during the 1987 L.A. concert footage. During My Whole World Ended, he does it 13 times. So that's an average of every 39 seconds, DER is dealing with his glasses. During State of a Fool, 7 times. I guess I'm nuts, but it amuses me. He is just so comical and lovable, all at once. Hi Rufferino,
I think those glasses are called Cazals. The frames were huge! They were really popular in the 1980s. I remember when the guys in my neighborhood would rock a pair of Cazal glassess and Addias sneakers trying to look like a member of Run DMC.

And I don't think contact lenses were out or poular at the time.

Actually I think contacts were out then, but they may not have been very comfortable. Somehow I can't see David dealing with contacts. They're very easy to lose and anyway, I think he liked the glasses as a personal icon. They helped him look individual from other performers. That particular pair that kept falling off though....maybe he ditched them after that performance!
