This is all too interesting. I heard the funeral was a mess. With the crowds and all. I get on one of my grandmothers so bad about getting a will, I think she is getting it done finally. My other grandmother has one already made out. I heard Diane Ross had contributed to his funeral as well. People can say what they want about Michael Jackson, but he has done alot for some of his friends in the biz. I even heard he brought Little Richards music back from the beatles who had owned it. And gave it back to Little Richard. MJ is a good man.

But only one had the intelligence to have insurance on him. She was also very generous with the monies. When she did not have to be. I think this was a greater demonstration of love for a person than acting a fool at his funeral,or writting a book. Sandra had a great responsibility in raisng his daughters. She was the ex-Mrs. Ruffin,as some of his women are more than happy to remind everybody. Everybody was in a mad race to be Mrs. Ruffin, what did they think was going to happen when he died? I like you would have contributed. Actually my husband did give Sandra money, and was honored to do so. Because we loved David. Molly-what you & der posted is totally makes sense to me. If I had knew David, I would have happily contributed anyway I can to his family. As David once sang Action Speaks Louder Than Words. I give a lot of props to the person who generously contributed money to his family after cashing the policy. They didn't have to do it but it just shows me the kind of character this person has & that this was someone who truly cared not only about David but his children as well.

Blessed- Only thing Diane Ross gave was some flowers & that's it. She didn't contribute anything financially to the family. Michael J. was the one who paid for the entire funeral.

der, I don't think that the problem was in Diane wearing shorts, but the type of shorts she wore, were not deemed appropriate in some eyes. Sandra was dressed to the nines in white attire. Very much a lady. Genna was dressed nice. Personally I wondered if she thought it was to be a more casual get together. Who knows?

I thought at the funeral Diane was dressed nice too. So was genna and Sandra. I didn't think anything was wrong with Diane dressing down for a all out party. I don't think the real problem was her "shorts" . There was a lot of ignorant gossip about the girl {not from everybody} and it all stemed from jealousy. People jealous because she was the woman he spent his last day with. Plain and simple. I have to give it to her,she couldn't help but know how grown people were whispering behind her back, but she didn't appear to be bothered by it. I'm sure she was but she played it off. Like I said. She is the woman that had David at his lowest and she could have came naked, and I wouldn't have cared. When he needed somewhere to live. Diane was there. She picked David up after he had been released from jail and took him into her home. I didn't,you didn't,genna didn't,Debbie didn't and CC didn't. So how can anybody dare say she disrespected David,by her attire. David would have a bunch of people out behind this, had he been there. I hope Diane has peace too, cause she had a very important time in David's life. His last hours. Diane deserves a lot more respect then she has been given. This is coming from a woman that loved David Ruffin very very much. Because I did and do.

Reverent at the party? Nope can't say it was anything but what it was intended to be, a David going home party...HEHEHE It did get a little loose after awhile...The video I have proves that. LOL Jody like I said I was there. The party got very loose Thats why I don't understand the BS over Diane's wearing shorts. Hell I wish I had worn some.

I agree this woman is someone special. She said she felt this was something that woukd have pleased David. He would have wanted his family to have this money. Still it was an extremely generous act.

The David Ruffin I knew would have some folks out over that petty ! I didn't go to the funeral, but my ex did. He told me of course many things but never mentioned Diane wearing shorts to the party. When genna's book came out I asked him about it. He couldn't believe genna thought that important enough to print in her book. Maybe seeing her in shorts looked strange initially, but years later people still talking about her showing up in shorts! Unbelievable! I guess Diane in shorts was the worse thing genna could say and prove about her. I'm with you Jealousy! Petty Jealousy!

I don't know about the jealousy thing...Not me for sure, I didn't and don't see anything to be jealous over. I may not have succeeded as well as Diane did, if the shoe was on my foot, who knows, but I would have tried the same as she if I had been in her situation...Truly, as I said before, I do respect her for the care she gave David. I talked to David close to the end, but I didn't see David at the end. To me the thing here is that each one of us loved David. I suppose we all helped or tried to help in our own way. Hind site is 20/20, maybe that was part of his problem. Too much of a good thing... There is no way that David could have felt unloved. IMO As the days roll into months and months into years, I realize where I failed David, where I failed myself. I guess all of us have had regrets. The outcome may have been the same, who knows, but I do know the changes I would have made. Not so many, but there were a few. Sadly none of us can make a difference now, except in the overall outcome. The lies that have been told, we can help to stomp out the untruths.

Jody as I read and re-read you post I am very confused. I don’t know how you or any of the women that loved David could not have been jealous of Diane {myself included}. I would have loved to have spent his last living hours with him. It wasn’t until I talked to Diane that I was able to get over my feeling's of envy. I was with David for 2 days 3 days before his death. I knew he needed help. If you spoke to him you had to know that too. Diane however was the person to come to his aid during this time. I know David’s outcome would have been the same, because of his priorities at that time. The changes you speak about making would have been to your life style, not his. David’s fate would have been the same had he been with you, because David Ruffin did what he wanted to do. It seems each time we interact with each other there is always a confrontation. I am trying hard for this not to be. I believe both genna and you are jealous of Diane, and with good reason. I believe the driving force for your needing closure in regards to his death is some how connected to his relationship with Diane. Unlike you I have no regrets. Unlike you I know the circumstances surrounding David’s death. I had to swallow my pride and speak to Diane because I knew she had the answers to my questions. It is very noble of you to want to set the record straight in regards to false statements regarding the life of David Ruffin. Hopefully this won’t be taken the wrong way. Since I have been on this board, I have not seen anything of substance from you in regards to the attacks on David’s character. Maybe you were more forthcoming before I arrived. I would gladly join you in trying to rectify the many false hoods regarding David. However I don’t feel that you have accepted the truth about David’s life choices or cause of death. Instead you continue in your erroneous statements regarding these very things. Love does cover a multitude of Sins. But love is also honest and unconditional. David Ruffin was who he was, he never made excuses for himself and neither do I. Neither does Diane. I loved him inspite of him self. Maybe had you still been a part of his life in the later years, you would have known what’s truth and what’s not.. Because there were a lot of changes in and with David prior to that fateful night.
